Faculty and staff:

New University Email System

Additional Information

07/15/03

On Monday morning, July 21, everyone will start using the new university

e-mail system. The following information is being provided to further

orient people as to what to expect Monday morning:

1. In a new development, we have just discovered that in order to use the

Outlook program to sign on to the new e-mail system, you must have Outlook

XP installed with Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 also installed. Until

this proper configuration is installed by the Dept of Computing Resources,

you will need to use the Outlook Web interface to access the new e-mail

system. This Web interface can be found at http://webmail.snhu.edu.

2. Dept of Computing Resources staff members will be visiting all offices on

the main campus Monday morning to address any issues and answer any

questions. If you need immediate assistance with your e-mail setup, call

the Help Desk at x4357 and someone will be dispatched to your office.

3. Detailed instructions on how to set up and use the new e-mail system will

be issued later this week.

4. It is recommended that the first step after signing into the new e-mail

system be to change your password. The detailed instructions will include

how to change your password. You will be required to know your

Staff/Faculty ID# (found on your SNHU ID card) in order to change your

password.

This new e-mail system is a major change for the university and will provide

numerous benefits to everyone, such as a global address book, calendar

sharing, anti-virus and anti-spam filtering, and so forth. Please be

patient as we transition to this new system; the Dept of Computing Resources

is taking many steps to make this transition as smooth as possible.
